The Watch My Father Wore
One of my earliest memories of a watch that my father sported on his wrist. This wasn’t just any old watch but a designer timepiece all the way from Switzerland. This watch had been presented to my father as a young man in recognition for winning an essay competition about the beauty of the Swiss Alps. This was in the 1940s and father wore that watch for years without realising that it was worth thousands of pounds. It was only when times got really hard that he had the watch evaluated that he found out. He reluctantly sold it to pay for his children’s education. He never said anything, but you could tell that he missed that old watch.
Well that expensive timepiece paid for my education, and I always promised myself that I would get my father a new watch. I was crawling the internet when I came across a web-site devoted to copy watches. I was pleasantly surprised to find they had cheap clone timepieces which exactly matched my father’s old watch. I would never have been able to afford one of he expensive original models, but I found one there that fit my budget nicely. I waited for my package to arrive from cheap replica watches. I didn’t say anything to my father yet in case the watch turned out to be a dud.
Well the package arrived from cheap reproduction timepieces and what I found inside put tears in my eyes; all the memories came flooding back. This was an exact copy of the one from years before. I couldn’t wait to show it to my dad. His hands were shaking as he removed the timepiece from the cheap replica watches parcel. He didn’t cry in front of me, but I could tell by the way that his shoulders were moving that this happened as he excused himself to go to the toilet. Thank you for cheap replica watches; you have made an old man very happy.
