How do you know if the jewelry you're buying is real, or fake? There are several different tell tale signs you can watch out for which will alert you if the dealer is selling real or fake jewelry. The first is the cost of the jewelry. Some jewelry designers, such as Tiffany & Co, do not have wholesale jewelry dealers. Tiffany only sells to a specific store which carries its products, like Neiman Marcus. You will not find Tiffany jewelry any where else. If your dealer is claiming he or she has a wide range of Tiffany products for sale, then they are probably selling Tiffany & Co replica jewelry, instead of the real thing.
Another thing you should watch out for when buying jewelry is the appearance of the jewelry. You should know what the item looks like before you want to buy it, so you can compare what you're seeing, with what you know. Many fake jewelry items feel lighter than their real counterparts, because they are made with cheaper materials. The metals used are different also, so they may appear to be different in color. Knowing the difference could save you a lot of hassle down the road.
