The benefit of the WordPress.com version is that it is so easy to set up and run, and is therefore great for novices who just want to quickly put up a blog but do not want the hassle of running their own website.
If however you want more control over your site, then you should used WordPress.org. This will enable you to get your own domain name, which looks more professional. You will also have greater control over the appearance and functionality of your website, due to the vast array of themes and plugins available for this version of WordPress.
